Universal Food Program
Wildflower Nature School provides a Universal Food Program for all eligible classrooms. Our youngest infant classroom, Bluebells, is exempt from the program due to age-specific feeding needs.
The program cost is $6 per child, per day and is incorporated into tuition for simplicity and consistency. This fee includes two daily snacks, milk, a full lunch, and the staffing required to operate our kitchen program.

Meals will be prepared with child development in mind, with foods being prepared in appropriate ways, cut to specific sizes for different age groups, and food preferences will be accommodated within reason such as dairy free and severe allergies. We are currently sourcing food from City Market and Sysco, with whole grain and organic options prioritized.

Families are welcome to provide food from home for any meal or snack during the day (for example, bringing lunch from home while the school provides the two daily snacks) and must communicate with their child's teacher each day about what is packed. Please note the food program fee will still apply regardless of whether food is brought from home or not.

If families choose to provide food from home, and the meal or snack does not meet the nutritional requirements and food standards for children under 5 years of age, Wildflower staff may supplement the meal with additional food components offered by the school.

Additionally, home-packed meals should be prepared in separate containers when possible for ease of heating (for example, pasta and fruit should not be packed together). If foods are packed together in a way that cannot be heated appropriately, portions of the meal may be served cold.

Only children with documented food allergies or medically necessary dietary accommodations may be exempt from the food program with a physician’s note. Families requesting a medical exemption should contact info@wildflowersilverthorne.org.

For newly enrolling families, notice of a requested exemption must be provided before the child’s start date. If notice is not provided prior to enrollment, the food program fee for that month will still apply and is non-refundable.
